supported by Olive Gilbert , Muriel Barron , Maidie Andrews , Peter Graves ,
Kenneth Carten , in excerpts from his Song Parade, which precedes his new production,
' Second Helping', at the Garrick Theatre, Southport
(A recording made at the premiere last night)
Of the many 1914-1918 wartime songs one of the few to survive is 'Keep the home fires burning ', one of Ivor Novello 's first big hits. Now, for another war, he has written a companion number-' We'll remember '.
It was heard for the first time in an Ivor Novello Song Parade, which is the curtain-raiser to his new play, Second Helping, announced for first production yesterday, at the Garrick Theatre, Southport. ' Song Parade ' will have been recorded in the theatre and will be broadcast this evening.
' We'll remember' is sung by Olive Gilbert and members of the company, including Ivor Novello. And, as in the case of ' Keep the home fires burning ', the audience join in.
