' Warwickshire '
' The Bear and Ragged Staff '
A programme arranged by Eddie Benbow and Harold Taylor with Bob Arnold , Godfrey Baseley , David Compton , Marston Goulcher , and Eddie Benbow
Produced by Robin Whitworth
Eddie Benbow and Harold Taylor , who have devised this programme, are two Warwickshire schoolmasters, and they have been at pains to select all that is most interesting about England's most central county.
The legend of the bear and the ragged staff tells of how a baited bear, escaping from its tormentors in Coventry, ran into the Forest of Arden where it attacked the famous
Sir Guy of Warwick. Although he was unarmed, Sir Guy uprooted a young tree, beat the animal into submission, and gave the county its famous emblem.
In the course of the programme you will visit Coventry, Birmingham, Leamington, Rugby, and, of course, the famous villages around Stratfordon-Avon.

the Irresistible Singer
' The lovely Hildegarde ', as people generally call her, might well be described as the mystery woman of cabaret. She sings as beautifully in German as she does in French, and when it comes to rendering jazz songs with English words you would never take her for anything but English. However, whatever her true nationality, the fact remains that she is an irresistible personality with a uniquely soothing voice. She has sung in cabaret all over the Continent and in England. She is at present in America.
