Five finalists, representing keyboard, percussion, string, brass and woodwind, have been chosen from a 25-strong semi-final line-up. Each will play a concerto alongside the Northern Sinfonia - conducted by Yan Pascal Tortelier - before a judging panel chaired by Marin Alsop and comprising Peter Sadlo, Thea King, Sergei Nakariakov, Angela Hewitt, Carlos Bonnell and Kathryn McDowell.
