In 1995, US air force pilot Mike Couillard went skiing with his ten-year-old son in Turkey; a blizzard hit and the pair became lost. Several days later they were rescued, having survived using techniques Couillard had picked up in a classroom lecture. In the Alps, Mears demonstrates mountain skills, including how to turn the snow into shelter.
