The old nursery rhyme made into a play with music by Capel Annand and H. E. Todd.
In this tale of 'Once upon a time' viewers meet the King, the Queen, the Lord Chamberlain, the Royal Cook-a very important personage who made the famous blackbird pie-and Araminta, the Royal kitchen maid.
Father Blackbird and his tiresome son William also appear, together with some of the four and twenty.
The story takes place a very long time ago in an imaginary land where the most improbable happenings are of daily occurrence; even the weekly washing behaves in an unusual manner.
