The Anglo-American film which surveys the entire final campaign on the Western Front from just before D-Day to the final victory. The commentary is partly an interpretation of the general course of the campaign, partly a dramatisation of the experiences of individual men of all ranks and nations.
This film with its introduction by General Eisenhower was produced under the direction of Carol Reed and Garson Kanin from material photographed by combat camera-men of the U.S.A., Canada, France, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Czechoslovakia, Norway, and Great Britain.
A visit to Wimbledon Palais de Danse for a cavalcade of fifty years of ballroom dancing. Nat Allen and his Band provide the music, the World professional dancing champions Arthur Norton and Pat Eaton demonstrate the dances, and the Baskcomb Quartet recall the Edwardian days, while Ronnie Stevens and Edna Fryer sing songs of the twenties.
