Dolly Parton traces the story of country music's founding clan, the Carter Family.
Originally a trio (Alvin Pleasant "AP" Carter, wife Sara and sister-in-law Maybelle, later mother of June Carter), they applied their pure and simple harmonies and distinctive flatpicking guitar style to traditional and hillbilly folk songs. Their rocky but massively influential career since 1927 yielded more than 300 recordings, including Keep on the Sunny Side, Worried Man Blues, Wabash Cannonball and Wildwood
Flower. Contributors include family descendants, plus input from AP and Sara's recently deceased daughter Janette, who was the last of the original Carter Family.
