Pat Kirkwood :
' I was just 14 and achieving an ambition. I'd gone on stage. I couldn't have been much lower on the bill - among the wines and spirits as they used to say - The Schoolgirl Songstress - a strange act for such a young girl - she sang love songs and American pop songs - I didn't know what I was singing about. Crazy, I suppose, but it seemed to work.'
