An assessment of the cultural phenomenon of the 50-year-old Eurovision Song Contest, presented by comic Jimmy Carr with singer Sandie Shaw, who performed the 1967 Eurovision winner Puppet on a String. Contributors include Lulu, Katrina and the Waves and former Bucks Fizz singer Cheryl Baker - all of whom performed winning songs - and prolific German Eurovision songwriter Ralph Siegel. Plus notoriously failed 2003 UK entrant Jemini,
2006 entrant Daz Sampson, Ken Bruce and contest veteran Terry Wogan, whose commentary has made bearable for UK viewers an annual event steeped in kitsch, nationalism and glossy enthusiasm.

1/2. Bob Harris pays tribute to Mississippi-born country legend Tammy Wynette , who died in 1998, aged 55, following a tremendous career offset by personal and medical troubles. Wynette scored 20 US country number ones, including the two crossover hits D-l-V-O-R-C-E and, most famously, the UK chart-topper Stand By Your Man. Featuring previously unaired early demos, plus input from family members and Bill Drummond of the KLF, who collaborated with Wynette for the 1991 smash hit Justified and Ancient.
