New series 1/4. Following on from a 2004 series detailing the personal styles of Hollywood greats like Cary Grant , Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn , Robert Lindsay celebrates four more stars who not only carried a distinctive style but also embodied the essence of it. This series, which combines clips, songs and previously unaired material, showcases Errol Flynn ,
Ava Gardner and Clark Gable but starts with one of the most renowned of all Hollywood actresses, Katharine Hepburn. Nominated for 12 Oscars (and winner of four), Hepburn played the Hollywood starlet, but on her own terms. Her assertive dress sense and commanding screen presence perhaps found their most stylish expression in George Cukor 's 1940 romantic comedy The Philadelphia Story. Contributors include
Barry Norman , director Bryan Forbes and cultural theorist Stella Bruzzi.
Producers Paul Kobrak and Alison Vernon-Smith
