2/5. Donald Macleod explores the weekly teaching routine that Bach established in Leipzig following his arrival there in the spring of 1723. Daily singing lessons and instrumental teaching allowed Bach to get the city's young musicians into shape and ready for one of the most ambitious musical projects ever undertaken - Bach's Leipzig cantata cycles, which provided music for the complete ecclesiastical year.

Garry Kasparov , often described as the greatest chess player of all time, talks to Philip Dodd about the lessons the game offers as a life philosophy. Since retiring from chess, Kasparov has turned his attention to business and politics, and in his homeland of Russia he remains a vigorous promoter of free and open democracy.
