Amadls Stephanie Hughes presents a performance of Amadis, Lully's first opera based on a story of human romance rather than ancient mythology, recorded at the 2006 Vendee Festival in France. The subject was chosen by the Sun King,
Louis XIV , and deals with the love of the medieval hero Amadis for Oriane. Oriane is in love with Amadis but believes him to be unfaithful. Meanwhile, a sorceress and her brother are hunting down Amadis to avenge the death of their brother.
