Stephanie Hughes presents a concert given by the baritone Thomas Quasthoff with pianist
Charles Spencer at Wigmore Hall last year. They perform Die Schone Mullerin , D765 by Schubert - which tells the story of a miller boy's obsession with the miller's daughter. Thomas Quasthoff also offers his thoughts on the cycle and on Schubert's vocal writing.

Orchestra, presents a series focusing on the close relationship enjoyed by the orchestra and Edward Elgar. Today he introduces music from his project to record all of Elgar's major orchestral works for the Halle's own label, as well as Elgar recordings by two of his distinguished predecessors.

Brian Kay 's selection of listeners' requests includes Benjamin Britten 's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, sacred music by Verdi, Leonard Bernstein 's Chichester Psalms and Ravel's only string quartet. Plus some examples of this month's special theme - accompanists.

The historic City Halls in Glasgow played host to the likes of Benjamin Disraeli , Charles Dickens and William Gladstone. But the building has recently been undergoing a massive refurbishment, updating the concert hall to become the new home of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. As the morphine enters his bloodstream, suppressed memories of a past tragedy resurface. Bible stories and the legends of Kings Arthur and Alfred are entwined with the story of the young Frank and his sister Iris. This portrait of a family and the secrets and lies that bind them together is also an examination of Englishness and a rural landscape that's fast disappearing.
