Rhythm 'n'Jews - the Story of Klezmer
2/4. The Hidden Light. In the early years of the 20th century, Klezmer arrived in America and encountered jazz. Two clarinettists competed for klezmer supremacy: the clean-cut Russian Dave Tarras and Polish wild man Naftule Brandwein , and an unexpected craze for Yiddish swing infected the jazz world. Wands can be traced back to Ancient Egypt, when magicians used sticks to summon and control powerful beings. The conductor's baton has the power to create harmony out of chaos.
