Live from the Royal Albert Hall, London.
Ravi Shankar, the ambassador of Indian classical music, makes his Proms debut at the age of 85. His daughter and protegee Anoushka joins the BBC Symphony Orchestra to perform his First Sitar Concerto before the pair team up for a sequence of ragas, which the sitar master introduces from the stage. The concert begins with Delhi-born composer Param Vir's 1994 orchestral work based on the story of Milarepa, the 11th-century Tibetan saint. Presented by Martin Handley.
