Michael Praetorius 's Musical Encyclopedia In the early 17th centurythe German composer, organist and music theorist
Michael Praetorius compiled the Syntagma Musicum , an encyclopedia cataloguing every aspect of music in his time. Andrew Manze dips into this book to create a picture of late Renaissance music-making, illustrated with works by Praetorius and his contemporaries.
