Lucie Skeaping introduces a concert of music for Advent and Christmas given by the Cardinall's Musick directed by Andrew Carwood in St Mary's Church in Warwick. Advent is represented by some of William Byrd 's dark mystical Mass for four voices and visionary music by Hildegard of Bingen. BBC Proms 2001
The first in a series of repeats from this year's Proms season. The centenary of Joaquin Rodrigo is celebrated with a pair of his concertos: the popular guitar concerto and the Concierto Pasfora/efor flute. The Proms pastoral theme is also echoed in Smetana's evocation of a river that runs through Prague, and in Johann Strauss 's springtime waltz.
