2: The Team. When Frederick Loewe and his writing partner Alan Jay Lerner were putting together a musical they assembled a team of professionals to work with them. Like most people Lerner and Loewe had their preferences and worked with some of the biggest names in show business, people like conductor Franz Allers , dance arranger
Trude Rittman , orchestrator Irwin Kostal , and theatre director Moss Hart. In today's programme Donald Macleod and musicals expert Adrian Edwards consider the ways in which this group of talented people contributed to the music Loewe wrote. Music includes excerpts from Brigadoon, Paint Your Wagon, My Fair Lady, Camelot and Gigi.
