Christopher Cook presents a performance of The Rake's Progress - Igor Stravinsky 's only full-length opera - given at
Glyndebourne last month. John Cox 's famous production, with designs by David Hockney , returned to the stage at
Glyndebourne this year a full quarter-century after its premiere there. But for three star singers, this was their role debut. Rosemary Joshua is Anne Trulove , ever faithful to the hapless Tom Rakewell - sung by Richard Croft. And at the cynical heart of the story lurks the creepy figure of Nick Shadow - performed by Gerald Finley.
