In August 1969 Sir John Barbirolli made his last appearance at the Proms conducting the Halle Orchestra in one of his popular Viennese evenings. There were waltzes by Johann Strauss , his overture to Die Fledermaus and the suite from Richard Strauss 's Der Rosenkavalier. The concert is introduced by Susan Sharpe.
