Delius A Village Romeo and Juliet
Delius's fourth opera tells the story of Vrenchen and Sali, children of neighbouring farmers who are locked in a bitter feud over a strip of land. The opera's emotional core is the famous Walk to the Paradise Garden, when the doomed lovers wander through forests and fields on a perfect summer evening to spend their last hours of happiness together.

London was gripped by an outbreak of Godot fever following the British premiere of Samuel Beckett 's controversial play Waiting for Godot. Timothy Bateson , Paul Daneman and Peter Hall recall the extraordinary events surrounding the opening, as well as the subsequent influence of this 20th-century masterpiece.
