During the early 19th century flowery parterres, instead of the careful greens of earlier landscapes, began to surround country mansions. In a series of three talks, Dr Joan Morgan examines the work of those Victorian gardeners who not only provided everything from potatoes and tangerines to buttonholes and bouquets, but also changed the view from the terrace forever.
