Orlandus Lassus
As Kapellmeister and composer to the Bavarian dukes, Lassus wrote and performed music to order. How his mastery of all 16th-century techniques enabled him to satisfy his employers' demands for sacred music is this week's theme. Today's music includes the experimental Carmina chromatica, Luther's Vatter unser, and the Te deum composed for the wedding of Duke Wilhelm.
