Music by Janacek
(sung in Czech): records A befuddled Broucek imagines himself transported through space from the Prague of 1888 to the moon, where his coarse philistinism appears particularly gross among the ethereal aesthetes he meets there. Then. in Part 2. he goes back in time to 15th-century Prague, to perhaps the most gloriously heroic day in Czech history, beside which his feeble cowardice also seems gross.
