JOHN LEHMANN , editor, publisher, man of letters and poet, belongs to a generation of writers who made their reputations in the 1930s and who dominated the literary life of that decade. He is best known for his work as a publisher assisting Leonard and Virginia Woolf at the Hogarth Press, and, during the Second World War, as editor of Penguin New Writing.
Now. at the age of 73, he has just published a new Life of Rupert Brooke.
In this programme he talks about his work, his friendships, and the literary life in England when he was a young man.
