Is Time Going Wrong?
Atomic clocks are now the source of the international standard for time; yet no two atomic clocks agree exactly. Recently there have been suggestions that atomic clocks should be corrected for latitude, but even when that is done, one clock - the clock at the Royal Greenwich Observatory - remains out of step. Could it be that our notion of time and space is not accurate enough? John Maddox discusses the implications of these discrepancies with experimenters and theorists. Producer DAVID PATERSON
