In the second of these programmes JERROLD NORTHROP MOORE introduces a recently reissued record of Elgar conducting his Symphony No 1, in A flat, and describes the intricate process of transferring 78 rpm records, made in 1930, into the LP of today.
He also discusses how fashions of orchestral playing influence composers in the way they conceive their music.
