Tom Burke made his British operatic debut singing Rodolfo in La Bohème at Covent
Garden in 1919; his Mimi was Melba. For one glorious decade, he was among the world's leading operatic tenors. But when he died in 1969 at the age of 79, he was largely forgotten. His story is told by some of those who knew him, and is illustrated with rare 78 rpm records from the collection of F. S. Winstanley.
