Earlier today at Sotheby's, London, a rare set of Audubon's hand-coloured prints 'The Birds of America' was expected to sell for around £lm. This programme tells the story of John James Audubon and his astonishing masterpiece, which was engraved and printed in Edinburgh between 1827 and 1838. Each set originally consisted of 435 prints the size of a double page spread of The Times, and the total cost to the subscribers was a mere 174 guineas. with Peter Marinker as John James Audubon and AUSON COLERIDGE.
