The Medvedev File written by DAVID WILLIAMS with Alan Dobie as Zhores Medvedev
I was asked to forget what I am now about to describe. I agreed, but only under certain conditions. Now it has become clear that the other side has not kept its part of the bargain, and this unties my hands. In May 1970 the distinguished Russian biochemist Dr Zhores Medvedev was removed to the mental hospital at Kaluga.
This act was the culmination of a long and bitter campaign conducted by Medvedev against the authorities to allow him either to leave the country to lecture or to publish his researches abroad. The details of the case and his eventual release make this one of the most remarkable stories to come out of the Soviet Union. with the voices of JAMES MELLOR , FREDA BAMFORD TERRY SCULLY , ROLF LEFEBVRE
