'I was quite taken aback when I found this diary in a heap of some old papers of mine. All compiled in a wee black book, and rather neatly written out. All about my experiences as a Lancaster bomb-aimer, between 29 May and 13Â August 1944 - aged about 22 at the time. On reading it I could hardly believe I was involved in all these air-raids over France and the Third Reich. I was one of the lucky ones who survived - many of my pals did not.'

Last of six programmes about men and women who live in Britain because they face persecution at home.

After the overthrow of the Shah, many Iranians living abroad were afraid to go back
home in case they fell foul of the Islamic courts. And since President Bani-Sadr lost
the struggle for power, the numbers seeking asylum abroad have grown. Should
they be allowed to stay? How safe is it for 'westernised' Iranians to go back? Robert
Rowe talks to Iranian exiles caught between fear of the mullahs and the
uncertainties of our asylum policy.
