Although Twelfth Night had been performed, drama on the wireless in the early 20s was still a rarity, consisting largely of extracts from theatrical productions.
On 15 January 1924 Danger was broadcast as the first 'listening play' specially written for effect by sound only. It is a short play, written in haste to oblige a friend, but it was an instant success and it gave birth to a new art form.

Marjorie Lofthouse presents highlights of the Six-O Radio Festival held at Pebble Mill in July. Over 2,500 schoolchildren celebrated the BBC's 60th Anniversary. A new stereo production to celebrate the BBC's
60th Anniversary. Twelfth Night was the first full-length studio presentation of a play on radio, and was broadcast on 28 May 1923.
