The House of Lords should be Abolished
It is proposed by Eric Heifer , MP for Walton, and opposed by the Earl ef Gowrie Opposition Spokesman on Economic Affairs in the House of Lords. Each advocate will call witnesses, cross-examine his opponent's and argue his case. The jury will vote at the beginning and end of the trial, so that any swing of opinion may be measured and a verdict reached.

3: The Reconstitution of Status Dr A. H. Halsey , Professor of Social and Administrative Studies, University of Oxford, argues that the Marxist emphasis on class interest trivialises status At the same time the liberal emphasis on status constitutes the trivialisation of class. The ultimate implication is that both theories lead to false doctrines of historical progress and neither deals adequately with the problem of social order.
