How do you react when you learn intimate details about someone's personal history? Sam thinks he's been exploited when Adam reveals a secret to him, but Chloe is hurt that her flatmate Tina hasn't turned to her for support before.
After his recent absence Charlie is back in the thick of it, too. Even before he gets to work he is flagged down by a man who says his wife has been beaten after disturbing burglars. It looks a lot more like a case of domestic assault to senior house officer George, but there are strongly differing views on whether the medical staff can get involved.
After recent episodes showing the marginalised lives of some local people, this week reverts to more inward-looking storylines, highlighting relations between the staff.
In the first of a two-part story, a mysterious phone call and an apparent suicide lead Scully to a young girl who she believes is her niece.
