This week the Birmingham Trading Standards officers check the honesty of local garage mechanics by deliberately introducing faults in a series of cars before sending them out for what they hope will be a thorough servicing. Plus in another operation, a schoolgirl wearing a secret camera is sent into a shop suspected of selling deadly lighter fuel gas to children.

This week the story of a young climber who cheated death twice in one afternoon while attempting to climb unexplored sheer cliffs on the island of Lundy. After surviving an 80 ft fall onto jagged rocks, he then found himself close to drowning when the helicopter rescuing him was forced into the sea.

In February 1995, 66-year-old farmer's wife Margaret Wilson was walking near her home in East Yorkshire when she was struck down and murdered. In spite of the efforts of detectives, the crime remained unsolved until a metallurgist responding to a Crimewatch UK appeal offered to analyse the murder weapon.
