Nottingham Forest, sole British survivors in the Uefa Cup, begin their bid for a place in the quarterfinals of the competition and there is live coverage of this third round first leg match against French side Lyon.

Forest's disciplined performances which put out Swedish side Malmo and another French team, Auxerre, have saved British football from total embarrassment in this season's European competitions. In both legs against Auxerre the Forest defence was forced to soak up considerable pressure and owed much to goalkeeper Mark Crossley's performance in the goalless second leg at the City Ground. Forest's Steve Stone had scored the solitary goal of the tie in the away leg.

Now Frank Clark's side face another stiff test. Lyon have been disappointing in the French League this season, winning only three of their first 15 matches and scoring less than one goal a game in the process. But it is in Europe that the Frenchmen have been at their best. In the second round they emerged emphatic and surprising 4-1 aggregate winners against the powerful Italian side Lazio.

Introduced by Desmond Lynam, with Alan Hansen and Jimmy Hill, and commentary by John Motson and Trevor Brooking.

Reporter Harry Martin is the family's black sheep for wanting his relatives to refrain from the corrupt and criminal acts that reap them such rich rewards.
