Another one of David Attenborough's 12 favourite Wildlife on One programmes. The Body Snatchers. A real-life horror film, worthy of the genre its title conjures up. In the rainforests of Panama, marauding armies of ants march through the jungle, leaving death and destruction in their wake. Meanwhile in Arizona, red Amazon ants have set themselves up as slave-raiders, plundering other ant colonies for slaves to do their bidding. Attenborough describes the ant as "one of the most alarming of all animals", as special macrophotography reveals the close-up drama of Amazon ants on a slave-raid.
