Art in the Third Reich
First oftwoprogrammes
The Orchestration of Power 'The renaissance of the German people isn't possible without the renaissance of German art and culture,' said Hitler. For 12 years
German painting, sculpture, film-making, architecture and music were controlled and sponsored by the Nazi Party.
This film traces the development of Nazi painting and sculpture with the help of contemporary propaganda films made about the artists and their work. Much of this work survived the war and has been inaccessible to the public. For the first time the range of these works is revealed, and Omnibus examines the scale of the collaboration which
Germany's artists offered the Third Reich.
