A Case for Treatment
'I thought only promiscuous people went to VD clinics' says Mrs Ibbotson from Sheffield.
The myth of genito-urinary clinics, as they are now known, extends not only to the patients but to the buildings, doctors and treatment as well.
It is assumed that they will be gloomy and depressing places, staffed by moralising and insensitive doctors, and that the treatment is invariably painful and humiliating.
The reality today can be very different, as Mrs Ibbotson finds out.
