Introduced by Desmond Lynam

Featuring Everton v. Liverpool 1986 Cup Final - KO 3.0 pm
A sport and leisure question - what happened at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday 10 May 1986 and was watched by millions on BBC television? What do you mean you pass? Historic occasions and Auntie are synonymous. She didn't let you down at the Coronation or at significant weddings (royal x 2 1/2) or Live Aid or the Grand National, so why should she on this absolute day? Not one for the door-to-door missionary in Liverpool certainly, indeed front rooms in the city were better lit in the blackout. So for those, and well in advance of the chosen 22 laying gifted hoof on England's green but far from pleasant, the prologue from a cast of well ken faces.

The story is set in Liverpool - the tale of one city - starring Desmond Lynam - less said really, he supports Brighton but the doctors are confident he'll make a full recovery.

Alf Garnett - Alf who? 'Cor blimey West 'Am that's all, none of yer bleedin' Shirley Temple scouse gits 'ere mate.'

Roger McGough - celebrated poet and Scaffolder, through the bars of a rhyme.

Pele, Eusebio, Beckenbauer and Cruyff - doyens of World Cup artistes, and dozens more between the horses.

Terry Venables - Cup winner with Spurs in 67, the rest you know. Emlyn Hughes - climbed up 117 steps, lost two and won one 71, 77 and 74.

Andy Gray - made it in 39 in 84.

Graeme Souness - Icon at Anfield and Ibrox, in from Sampdoria.

Everton and Liverpool FCs - the legends unfold just after 1.0.

Lineker and Lawrenson - snookered at the Crucible.

Smith and Jones - snookered.

Derby and Oaks - Classic trials at Lingfield, 12.30 and 1.0.

Motson and Hill - pure and simple.

'Gissaprogie' - watch this space.

Seas of Red and Blue - 1986 Cup Final

2.40-4.40 Hearts and Dons - Scottish Cup Final at half, and full time.

Wilson, Sinstadt, Gubba and Cosgrove - historiographers each, in their way.
