Lancaster wrote, directed and produced The Midnight Man in collaboration with Roland Kibbee and also starred as former policeman, Jim Slade. Paroled, after killing his wife's lover, Slade takes on a 'quiet' job as a security guard at a South Carolina college. He's to take the night shift -from midnight onwards. But trouble seems to follow Slade, and within hours of his first duty he becomes involved in a series of strange thefts and the vicious murder of a beautiful student.
