with Johnny Ball
A lighthearted exploration of science and numbers.
This week Johnny goes round the bend with a few Dangerous Curves. Find out how you can draw hyperbolas, parabolas and about the illusion that something is there when it isn't. So this week watch out for things that go with a swing, and for curves there's no place like cone.
Meanwhile - bend your mind to this - which set of numbers adds up to the higher figure?*

The First Million Miles!
Alan Whicker looks back at some of the people, places and experiences on which he reported during his first ten years in television.
6: 'Skin like black velvet-and breasts that'll poke your eye out....'
In the last of the series. Whicker remembers some of his earliest Tonight stories. In Australia, Bill Harney told him about his philosophy of least effort. He met the drover who killed poisonous snakes by cracking them like whips. He went on a drugs raid with axe-swinging Singapore police and in 1961 visited the birthplace of the atom bomb at Los Alamos. Back home, there was the lady who rang the entire peal in her village church single-handed, and the mysterious case of the Hexham Street numbers.
