Ten programmes celebrating areas of excellence in the British arts.
Elton John dominated the 70s as one of the most successful singer/songwriters of all time. Disc jockey Paul Gambaccini went to meet the pop star at his English home where, surrounded by art treasures, he discusses his music, his close relationship with lyricist Bernie Taupin, and the strains and pressures of his career. Elton also sings new songs, including one set to John Donne's poem "No Man is an Island", and attends one of the most bizarre parties the House of Commons has ever seen.
