The arts in action
Introduced by Humphrey Burton A Day in the Garden
Exactly three years ago this week, after three centuries of trading, the market moved out of Covent
Garden. The porters and traders have been replaced by a new set of people. Dancers, designers, sculptors and photographers are working in warehouses and market buildings which once stored fruit, vegetables and flowers. Omnibus spends one day with these new people who believe that Covent Garden is fast becoming one of the most exciting places in London. 'lOF'-The Story of a Piano
A Thames-side crane lifting 5½ tons of African walnut from barge to saw mill starts a process that will involve 5,000 parts, shaped and moulded by skilled craftsmen, to produce an instrument you may find in your living room or your local.
