Narrated by Jack Pizzey

Catherine Lamour is a young French journalist who took a film crew on a dangerous mission. Without passports, visas, or permission they penetrated deep into the heart of the jungle in South East Asia - to the Golden Triangle, the area bounded by the borders of China, Burma, Thailand and Laos. The film crew travelled into Burma under the protection of the Shan Liberation Army in a region dominated by rebellion, rival private armies, guerrilla warfare and local chiefs trading in arms, rubies, and, above all, opium. There they succeeded in filming the opium harvest: a caravan carrying three tons of opium, and the closely guarded refineries. But, for Catherine, the real success of her mission came when they succeeded in getting into the forbidden camps of the Chinese nationalists - the Kuomintang - and interviewing their General Tuan, the first to do so in over ten years.

Introduced by Humphrey Burton Stan Tracey Original
' One of the most gifted jazz musicians Britain has ever produced ' (BENNY GREEN) ' The best jazz pianist in Britain and one of the best anywhere '
(MILES KINGTON)
' One of the finest jazz composers in the world '
(HUMPHREY LYTTELTON)
A small sample of the accolades heaped on Stan Tracey , who was born on 30 December 1926, in South London. He still lives there.
Fame in jazz circles has brought him no fortune.
An entirely self-taught musician, he joined ENSA as an accordionist on his 16th birthday. At 18 he fell in love with jazz, graduated to the piano and set about mastering the crafts of composer and arranger.
"Of the 150 Tracey compositions, the most steadily popular has been his Jazz Suite inspired by Dylan Thomas 's Under Milk Wood.
In this film STAN TRACEY tells his own story, plays solo piano, duets with MIKE OSBORNE , and leads his quartet and his octet. He also gives us a glimpse of his teaching methods.
