Catherine Lamour is a young French journalist who took a film crew on a dangerous mission. Without passports, visas, or permission they penetrated deep into the heart of the jungle in South East Asia - to the Golden Triangle, the area bounded by the borders of China, Burma, Thailand and Laos. The film crew travelled into Burma under the protection of the Shan Liberation Army in a region dominated by rebellion, rival private armies, guerrilla warfare and local chiefs trading in arms, rubies, and, above all, opium. There they succeeded in filming the opium harvest: a caravan carrying three tons of opium, and the closely guarded refineries. But, for Catherine, the real success of her mission came when they succeeded in getting into the forbidden camps of the Chinese nationalists - the Kuomintang - and interviewing their General Tuan, the first to do so in over ten years.
