This year's equestrian events have been dominated by two people, Lucinda Prior-Palmer and Alwin Schockemohle
Both European Championships were staged in Germany and at Luhmuhlen LUCINDA PRIOR-PALMER, the vivacious young rider from Hampshire, riding Be Fair, showed no fear in tackling the enormous fences to win emphatically, With HRH THE PRINCESS ANNE as runner-up. ALWIN SCHOCKE-MÖHLE, supreme horseman and business tycoon, won the two major prizes that have eluded him so far, the' European Championship and the King George V Gold Cup.
Although these two riders are at the top of their sports, their training facilities and backgrounds are amazingly different. Raymond Brooks-Ward went to their respective homes and discussed the year's equestrian events, the Amateur-Professional controversy, next year's Olympics and, inevitably, horses.
