It is Christmas 1183, and Henry II, King of England and half of France, has brought his family together at his Chinon castle for the purpose of nominating his successor. Among those present is Henry's wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine, who has been imprisoned for a decade in Salisbury Tower to stop her meddling in affairs of state. The embittered and vengeful Queen is bent on thwarting Henry's plans.
