The story of HMS Belfast told by Ludovic Kennedy and the men who served in her.

Launched in 1938, HMS Belfast was the largest cruiser ever built for the Royal Navy. She played a vital role in the last of the great naval gun battles - the sinking of the Scharnhorst, led the British Squadron at Korea, and was the flagship of the Far East Fleet.

Reprieved from the scrapyard on the eve of destruction, Belfast is the last of the great gunships. Today, Trafalgar Day, she was opened as a museum ship, like Victory and Cutty Sark, the sole survivor of a great era in maritime history.
