The main class of tonight's Gala Charity Performance is The Butlin Championship

Since early spring the many and varied activities of the horse have been paraded, judged and contested in Show arenas all over the country - at countless local gymkhanas, at the grander County Shows and in the jumping arenas of the great International meetings, horses and riders have delighted and thrilled thousands of enthusiasts.
This week at the Empire Pool, Wembley, these equestrian activities are brought to their annual climax in The Horse of the Year Show, a unique occasion which holds a special place in the affections of both competitors and spectators.
